0.4 Planning for the Future

Welcome back all, to another edition of Wishing Upon a Star! Last time we had tonz of birthdays. Sims being what they are, I'm sure we'll have our share in this chapter as well. Let's just jump into it, shall we?

A freshly aged-up Archimedes heads right for his birthday present, a brand-new telescope. Thanks to his toddler training he's already got 4 skill points in Logic, and happily working away at even more of them.

Inside Aladdin is being forced to sit through yet another unappreciative house-guest.

KID - I'm not saying this is the worst house in the world but . . . well, it's the worst house in the world. How do you LIVE with yourself?!

ALADDIN - It's times like this I really wonder . . .

Between homework and painting, Aladdin never bothered with his computer so it got sold to make room for a bunkbed for Archimedes. I promised myself I'd get him a laptop later on when we can afford it.

Little Aurora is still around, and still ridiculously precious. She's picking up on the xylophone way faster than she did walking. A hidden virtuoso perhaps?

Oh look, it's our every-other-day Alien visitor! What could be the purpose of tonight's arrival?

Why, dropping Ella off from her thousandth abduction, of course.

ALIEN - Same time in two days?

ELLA - .....

She manages to shake off the last vestiges of abduction PTs and headed into the nursery to see to Aurora's hygiene needs.

Unfortunately the baby powder proved to be too much for her . . . XD

ELLA - FML

ARCHIMEDES - I thought Madam Mim was supposed to come to life.  : <

Awwww, bb! He got the message as a toddler that they'd become special friends, but so far Mad Madam Mim has refused to become mobile, and she's been sitting out all afternoon and night.

ARCHIMEDES - Is it my fault?

*squishes his little freckled cheeks* Nothing could EVER be your fault because you're so ridiculously cute omfggggg.

ARCHIMEDES - . . . a simple 'no' would have worked.

Aladdin escorts his little brother to the bus for his first day of school. Why the heck are they still breathing fog while on the bus?! Don't they have heaters in there? Sim child abuse!

Aladdin throws a distrustful look in the driver's direction, for realz. Shady business, he is on to it.

And then as soon as Archimedes leaves, this happens. -_-*

MIM - YAY I'm alive! I'M ALIIIIIIVE!

A little late there, Mim.

ALADDIN - How is it that you've only gone to school one day and yet you're already finishing homework faster than me?

ARCHIMEDES - Genius trait, bro.

ALADDIN - That's stupid.

ARCHIMEDES - Don't hate the playa.

Walt finally got to indulge his Childish trait by playing with Aurora on the xylophone.

He was suddenly called away from it, however, by strange flashing lights in the sky . . . As much as I don't want another baby, I was really hoping for the 'Unexpected Weight Gain' moodlet. Alas, it was not to be. :(

Meanwhile he managed to max out his Writing skill. Now we're just pumping out books for cash as well as working on those skill challenges for pointz.

Archimedes got an opportunity to attend a game at the stadium for credit at school. Not sure how that works but, sim logic. He passed by Hidden Springs' resident Prince, Sebastian Vanderburg, along the way.

SEBASTIAN - Your mother . . . she was supposed to be mine . . . D:

In my other games, I usually pair up Sebastian and Ella for the whole Cinderella-marries-Prince scenario. Apparently he's hopeless with his own love-life without her, as he can't stay with a girl longer than 3 or 4 sim days before breaking up.

Once Archimedes gets home, he's ecstatic to learn that Mad Madam Mim has come to life. They celebrate with a game of tag. At least . . . that's what I hope they're doing. Since in this shot it really looks like he's about to smack dat ass. O_o

Aurora managed to overflow her potty, but Good Guy Archie cleaned it up before mom came in and had a nervous break down.

Out in the main room, it's finally time for Walt to join his wife in full adulthood! Look at that face! Nobody celebrates like Walt. :P

A few more wrinkles, but not bad at all. Since he'd already completed his LTW, I'm guessing that's why he aged up Mid-Life Crisis free.

After his lone celebration it was off to find Ella and engage in some 'other' kinds of celebration. Yeah, they're on their way to the shower. It's their favorite thing.

I bought Archimedes a chem lab table so he can continue to work on his logic skill when it's raining/snowing outside. As you can see from the rogue thought-bubble behind him, Mim supervises from a safe distance.

That 'safe distance' proves to be prudent, as Archimedes proceeds to blow himself up almost immediately. What is with my genius sims being so incompetent on this thing?!

ARCHIMEDES - Incompetent?! You take that back! Words hurt!

Sorry, bb. Unlucky, not incompetent. That better?

ARCHIMEDES - Marginally.

As predicted, yet another birthday has appeared for the Disneys. This time our eldest A baby is ready to become a teenager.

The rest of the family Walt cheers him on while he makes a wish and blows out the candles.

If his wish was to be handsome, it came true. <3

Teenager Aladdin Disney rolled the Nurturing trait and a raging case of hormones.

Now that Ella's gone back to work, Walt has to pick up some of the slack in the housework. He manages to clean the shower with little fuss.

Archimedes managed to discover a potion, yay! This is the Radical Repairum potion I believe.

Still in her MLC, Ella rolled the wish to cut or dye her hair, so I have her a new hairstyle. I have to say, compared to some of my other sims Ella's MLC has been relatively mild. No wishes to divorce Walt or flirt with other men. Just wants to move into a new house and spend 10k we don't have on a new car.

We definitely can't afford cars when we can barely keep the house we own in one piece. WALT! Clean up on aisle 2!

Ella removes herself from the nightmare of never-ending puddles and decides to celebrate her baby girl's childhood birthday instead. Walt's on hand in the cheering section, as always.

I give you child-stage Aurora Disney! She rolled the Coward trait. Interesting.

And look, a rainbow on her birthday! I'm not saying the neighborhood is playing favorites, but . . . .

Walt received a nice, hefty royalties check in the mail which allowed us to build on a little addition to the house. A new bathroom and an actual study for his computer and Aladdin's easel. Meanwhile the nursery gets remade into Aurora's bedroom.

Merryweather follows IF protocol and pops to life as soon as she's put on the floor.

Aurora didn't have much time to indulge in her desire to chat, however. She was itching to use her new toy oven. She had plans of being as good a cook as her mommy one day.

From the looks of things, though, she's . . . got a long way to go. O_o

After baking a few plates of muffins (for later plans) Aurora sat down to play with the building blocks instead. There was just something so strangely satisfying about building up a castle and then SMASHING it to bits afterward.

MIM - Archie. Arrrrrrrchie? ARCHIE!

Archimedes cannot be reached right now, he's busy reading his father's latest best-seller, Beauty and the Beast.

I started to get a little annoyed with all the IFs running around, stalking the kids, interrupting them in the bathroom and lagging up the house. Not long after this, all three of them got planted in the kids' inventories.

I feel no regret.

Aladdin hasn't gotten much face time this chapter because he's been a busy little bee, painting and working on getting to portrait-level. I will share with you, however, the fact that he is EXTREMELY popular. Nine times out of ten, when a phone rings in the house--it's Aladdin's. All the hopeful young girls (and boys) of Hidden Springs are destined to have their hearts broken, however, because Aladdin's already made his choice known to me.

Rolling the wish to date and kiss the girl of his dreams an hour after aging up into teenhood. We'll be seeing to that after school. ^_~

But first, it's time to escort his baby sister on her first day, just like he did Archimedes.

AURORA - Is it just me, or does this driver look a bit shady?

ALADDIN - No direct eye-contact.

ARCHIMEDES - Al's convinced the guy's a super villain in disguise. Better safe than sorry, I guess.

The Sim Gods were on my side that afternoon, as Aladdin's crush just happens to come home with him that day from school. This is Sabrina Cho, the little girl who came home with him last chapter. I'll admit that I gave her a little reconstructive surgery, her eyes were reeeeeaaaaallllyyyyy messed up. Now that they're not oblong and sunken into her head, she's quite cute!

Aladdin obviously thinks so, as well. He got his flirt on, and on the front porch no less! Family tradition is born!

Aladdin asked Sabrina what her sign was, and she responded favorably but the game never told me what it was. -_- We'll just assume they're compatible.

See? VERY compatible!

Prom is coming up soon, so he managed to get a first kiss and a promise to attend prom with him out of her before she had to go. I have high hopes for these two!

Meanwhile, another of the Disney children was on the search for their romantic futures. Aurora decided to take a more proactive approach, however, and chased hers down. Yes she is, indeed, standing outside the half-unrendered Vanderburg mansion.

Catarina and Renauld Vanderburg had a late-in-life baby, who Aurora just 'happened' to decide to go home with on her very first day at school. The little guy is named Edward, and he has some lofty goals in mind.

EDWARD - Ugh! This homework is torture! When I become King I'm going to abolish all homework and force my former teachers to beg me for forgiveness!

AURORA - That sounds fair. Say . . . if you're going to be King one day, doesn't that mean you'll need a Queen?

EDWARD - I suppose that's a safe assumption, yes.

AURORA - Perfect! I'm already a princess, my daddy told me so. But it wouldn't hurt my credibility to marry a real-life prince, either. So it's settled. When we grow up we'll get married and I'll be your Queen!

Edward, in all his childhood innocence, saw no problem with this scenario.

After homework, Edward invited Aurora upstairs to play. Her Coward trait kicked in on the way.

AURORA - Oh no! What if he's got a fire-breathing dragon upstairs?! Everybody knows they feed cute and adorable princesses such as myself to the evil fire-breathing dragons! I'M TOO YOUNG AND PRETTY TO DIE!!!!

And then, this! Apparently little Edward is a Coward too! Soul-mates? Y/Y?

Edward's idea of 'playing' turned out to be a rambunctious game of pillow-fighting.

But Aurora was far too delicate of a lady for that kind of rough-housing.

AURORA - What was that for?! I can't believe you HIT me! You never hit a girl! I hate you!!1!1!!

EDWARD - S-sorry, I thought we were playing . . . does this mean we're not getting married now?

AURORA - Of course not, don't be ridiculous!! But I am going home now, so you just think about what you've done and what you're gonna bring me tomorrow at school to make it up to me!

EDWARD - . . . a tiara?

AURORA - That's a start.

ELLA - I'm worried about Aurora having to ride her bike all the way across town at this hour, Walt. Maybe you should go pick her up in a cab?

WALT - She'll be fine, Ella.

ELLA - Is that what you think, or the TV talking?

WALT - . . . .

Okay folks, that's it for this installment! Next time we'll see the results of Aladdin's prom, whether Aurora manages to bag herself a real-life prince and whether or not Archimedes finds himself a potential spouse, period. Oh, and I suppose the adults in the house might do something. You never know. :P Until then, happy simming!

  1. As always, I love it :) I'm rather impartial to Aladdin just cause that movie brings me back happy childhood memories :) However, Aurora has inspired me to watch Sleeping Beauty (for the first time in quite awhile), which I did this morning and now I'm all up in her corner too :D This is exciting me! Great chapter!! P.S. Don't feel bad about the IF's. I never pull them out anymore unless I intend on having the child marry them. The constant pranks and stalking their children drive me nuts, haha!

    1. Yay! Aladdin was definitely one of my favorites growing up (I watched the VHS tape so many times the tape inside broke . . .), but my ALL time favorite is Beauty and the Beast. :P So you KNOW there's gonna be a Belle in the next generation, lolol. Yah, I do the same with the IFs nowadays. I wish I could leave them out more, but my machine lags up too much. :( And plus, they are pretty annoying with the walking in the bathroom and the constant boobytraps. -_-

    2. I looove Beauty and the Beast as well. Growing up, my sister and I watched Aladdin constantly. My dad would call to talk to us on his lunch break and he'd ask what we were doing. Every day we would say we were watching Aladdin, and his response would always be "Oh, what a surprise!" Haha :) As I've mentioned, Alice is my absolute favorite, but right behind that is The Little Mermaid :)
